ITV has reportedly axed actor Bradley Johnson from the soap opera Emmerdale as part of ongoing network budget cuts that require a reduction in cast size, according to a show source on May 24, 2026.
The 28-year-old actor, who has portrayed Vinny Dingle for seven years, is the third major star reported to leave the program recently.

Network executives are trimming the cast because the show is producing fewer episodes, which has shortened daily broadcasting times to under 30 minutes.
Backstage Reaction and Motivation
An unnamed Emmerdale source provided details regarding the backstage reaction to the decision and the underlying motivation behind the cast reduction.
"Bradley is a very popular member of the cast and especially close with his on-screen Dingle family.
Everyone is shocked that bosses decided to axe him but it’s all part of the ITV cuts and they still need to trim back the cast," said the source.
The source further explained to The Sun how the reduction in scheduling directly impacts the necessity for fewer actors on set.
"They are making less episodes so don’t need as many characters," the source added.
The network itself declined to verify the reports or provide any public statements regarding the future of the actor.
When contacted by the Mirror, ITV said it would not be making any official comment or confirmation regarding Bradley's departure.
The departure of Johnson follows the reported exits of co-stars Nick Miles and Olivia Bromley.

Cast members have expressed significant sadness over the sudden roster changes, which have disrupted long-standing on-screen family dynamics.
"Lisa is devastated. She adores Bradley and they have such a close bond.
It just shows that no-one is safe," the source claimed.
Johnson joined the production in 2019 as the adopted son of Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Riley.
During his tenure, his character participated in major storylines involving domestic abuse, complex relationships, and questions regarding his sexuality.
The actor previously expressed his appreciation for his role during an interview regarding his employment on the show.
"I’m just loving my time on Emmerdale, as long as the writing is great, as it is, I’m just grateful to be here," said Bradley Johnson, actor.
The departures coincide with broader adjustments at ITV, which altered the broadcast schedules for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
