Independent horror film Obsession has shattered box office records since its release on May 15, 2026, maintaining an unprecedented hold in its second weekend.

According to Box Office Mojo, Obsession held the number-one domestic spot from Monday through Wednesday, outperforming major titles like Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Mortal Kombat II.
Produced on a $1 million budget, it is the cheapest horror movie to top the box office since Paranormal Activity in 2009.
Focus Features and Blumhouse acquired the film for approximately $15 million at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
It opened in 2,615 North American venues.

The film holds a 95% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an A- CinemaScore, driving strong word-of-mouth.
In its first full global week, Obsession earned $30.3 million domestically and $7.9 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $37.9 million.
