The 57-year-old singer previously underwent a lumpectomy and chemotherapy for early-stage breast cancer in May 2005.

She explained that she managed to keep her second health battle completely private from the public.

Minogue reflected on her choice to remain silent during that period while struggling to find the appropriate moment to share the news with her global fan base.

Keeping the Diagnosis Private

"My second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021," Minogue said.

The singer elaborated that the emotional weight of the diagnosis made it impossible to speak out at the time.

"I was able to keep that to myself and go through that year not like the first time," she added.

The health crisis heavily impacted her daily life and willingness to interact with the outside world.

"I've been trying to find the right time to say it," Minogue stated. She emphasized that she felt no requirement to make her private medical struggles public.

"I don't feel obliged to tell the world, and actually I just couldn't at the time, because I was just a shell of a person," she said.

The severity of her emotional state led to severe isolation during her treatment year.

"I didn't want to leave the house again at one point," Minogue recalled.

Musical Comeback and Emotional Processing

Her professional comeback accelerated with the 2023 release of her hit single "Padam Padam," which earned a Grammy Award for Best Pop Dance Recording.

"Padam Padam opened so many doors for me, but on the inside I knew that cancer wasn't just a blip in my life," she said.

The singer used her 2023 album "Tension" to emotionally process her secret journey through the track "Story."

She sang: "I had a secret that I kept to myself, yeah / I had a one-way ticket that was goin' nowhere."

Minogue stated that revealing her second diagnosis now allows her to officially move past the experience.

"I really just wanted to say what happened so I can let go of it," she said.

She reassured viewers that her current health status remains positive following the conclusion of her treatments. "Thankfully I got through it again and all is well," Minogue added.
