Starz has released the official trailer for the fifth and final season of its prequel series "Power Book III: Raising Kanan."

The footage, unveiled on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, confirms that the character Raq survived the previous season's cliffhanger.

The trailer reveals an escalating conflict between Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis) and his mother, Raquel "Raq" Thomas (Patina Miller).

The two characters are now at war.

"You ain't never had an enemy like me," Raq states in the trailer.

The tension between mother and son intensified after Kanan discovered that Raq killed his police officer father, portrayed by Omar Epps, along with other close associates.

"I've had you as an enemy my whole f---ing life," Kanan replies.

Kanan's Ruthless Path

The final season follows Kanan as he aligns with Southside legend Breeze, played by Shameik Moore.

Together, they solidify Kanan's standing in the Queens drug trade while he completely severs ties with his mother.

According to the logline from Starz, "Kanan's true ruthlessness takes shape. He knows exactly who he is and who he must become to defeat his enemies."

As Kanan's relationship with Raq reaches a point of no return, war becomes inevitable.

The alliance with Breeze sets the stage for a reckoning that will ripple through every player in this dangerous business.

Nothing will stand in the way of Kanan's pursuit of power, the logline adds.

Franchise Expansion

The character of Kanan was originally introduced in the flagship series "Power" by 50 Cent.

There, he served as a dangerous mentor to characters Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora).

The Power franchise will expand further with a late-1990s prequel and sequel series titled "Power: Origins."

Created by "Raising Kanan" boss Sascha Penn, the series will explore the early lives of Ghost and Tommy.

"Those are my boys, Ghost and Tommy, so I'm involved," said Courtney A. Kemp, creator of the original Power series, to The Hollywood Reporter.
