Strategic Partnership Details
Stellantis and Dongfeng have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form a new Europe-based joint venture focused on sales and local assembly of Dongfeng EVs.
Under the proposed structure, Stellantis would hold a 51% controlling stake, while Dongfeng would retain the remaining 49%.
The venture will oversee sales and distribution of Voyah-branded electric models across selected European markets, leveraging Stellantis' extensive retail and after-sales network.
Additionally, the partnership will include joint purchasing and engineering initiatives, utilizing Dongfeng's supply chain in China.

Industry Context
Industry analysts note that this development highlights manufacturing overcapacity among European OEMs and reflects aggressive global expansion by Chinese automakers.
Establishing production inside the European Union helps Chinese OEMs bypass import tariffs on finished vehicle shipments from China.
Stellantis is also collaborating with another Chinese partner, Leapmotor, to manufacture an Opel-branded C-segment SUV model.
This new agreement builds on an earlier announcement to expand their existing China-based joint venture, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DPCA).

That arrangement will enable production of Peugeot and Jeep EVs at the DPCA facility in Wuhan, targeting both the Chinese market and exports, with assembly slated to begin in 2027.
Since its formation, DPCA has manufactured over 6.5 million Peugeot and Citroën vehicles in China.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa said: "The plans we are announcing today take our recently strengthened cooperation with Dongfeng to an all-new dimension of an international partnership to the benefit of customers around the world."
Filosa added: "With this new chapter in our collaboration, we will give our customers an even greater choice of competitive products and pricing, leveraging the best of Stellantis’ global footprint alongside Dongfeng’s access to China’s advanced new energy vehicles ecosystem."
