She explained her reaction: "And then I was like, 'Come on, Mila,' woke up at four in the morning, and I was like, 'It's too much about me.
She's right.' It's four in the morning.
I'm like, 'I'm gonna go rewrite this introduction at 4 a. m.'"
Bush Hager emphasized the importance of staying grounded when receiving feedback from younger people.
"I also think that thought of being humble and not making everything about ourselves," she said.
She further detailed how she addresses her daughter's constructive criticism: "coming from a 13-year-old, I was like, 'You know what?
If she says that at all, then I'm gonna go in there and fix it.'"
On a separate episode, Bush Hager revealed a new nickname her children have been using for her at home.
"My children have brought home a term that I wish they'd left at the old door," she said.
She described how her children use the nickname during regular interactions: "They call me Biggie. They're like, 'Okay, Biggie!'
And I'm like, 'Excuse me?' They're like, 'Whatever, Biggie!'"
She explained that she warned her eldest daughter to stop using the moniker due to its potential use at school.

"I'm like, 'Mila, stop saying this.
Hal's gonna go to school, and his teacher's gonna be like, 'Now, Hal, please turn in your homework.'
And he's gonna be like, 'No way, Biggie!''" Bush Hager said.
Co-host Sheinelle Jones expressed her surprise regarding the household nickname during the live broadcast.
"I've never heard that. That hurts my feelings," Jones said.
Bush Hager clarified that the phrase originates from a popular slang term used by youth.
"You know what it stems from? The root word is 'Big Back,'" she said.
She added that her daughter condensed the phrase for regular use: "The root word is Big Back, and she has simplified it just to Biggie.
Part of me at first found it to be… I like humor in words, so I was like, 'Oh, that's creative.'
But I'm like, 'Stop calling everybody Biggie. It's gonna spread.'"
Jones reacted further to the linguistic background of the family nickname: "even worse."
Separately, Bush Hager announced her May 2026 Read with Jenna book club selection, choosing "Caller Unknown" by author Gillian McAllister, a psychological thriller that marks a shift toward darker themes for the club.
"Unbearably tense, compassionately told, and full of well-crafted moral dilemmas, Caller Unknown proves once again why Gillian McAllister's thrillers are the ones readers can't put down.
This is a novel that will stay with you long after you finish," according to multiple professional book review sources.
