United Airlines Holdings, Inc. is expanding its international network by introducing two new flight routes to Japan.

The carrier will connect San Francisco to Sapporo and Chicago to Tokyo-Narita.

The service between San Francisco and Sapporo will operate three times a week starting December 11.

This launch marks the first-ever nonstop flights connecting the continental United States directly to the northern Japanese city.

United Airlines will utilize a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for this specific route.

The new connection is designed to allow travelers from nearly 80 US cities to access Sapporo via San Francisco.

This route opens up travel for skiing, regional cuisine, and the Sapporo Snow Festival. It provides a direct link to Hokkaido's winter attractions and culinary scene.

Chicago-Tokyo Service

In addition to the West Coast expansion, the airline will initiate a daily, year-round service between Chicago O'Hare and Tokyo-Narita starting October 24.

This schedule establishes United Airlines as the sole US carrier operating on that particular route.

The Chicago route will feature a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

Passengers utilizing this flight will gain access to one-stop connections to 21 Asia-Pacific destinations through United and its joint venture partner, ANA.

United Airlines Holdings, Inc., which is headquartered in Illinois, maintains a vast domestic and international flight network.

The major American carrier is also a founding member of Star Alliance, the largest airline alliance globally.
